When I came across Blue Honey, I knew it was my duty to share it’s benefits with the psychedelic community. Honey has been used for thousands of years to preserve food in a natural way. Honey is great at this because it is so high in sugars and antiviral properties. Honey uses a process called osmosis which draws up and dries out water particles and additional bacteria or yeast cells that might otherwise contaminate the honey. It’s because of the high sugar concentration that honey is such a miraculous food preserver. Blue Honey will literally never go bad or start to ferment. If it is made and sealed properly it can last thousands of years. This is why blue honey is such a great and time-tested way to keep your magic mushrooms safe and secure.
This is where I am going to take of my Nutrition hat and put on my Spiritual one. It because abundantly clear to me when harvesting fresh psilocybin mushrooms that they are quiet literally our umbilical cord to collective consciousness and help us connect not only to the planet and our inner worlds but also the collective as a whole. Bees too connect us; they are all about community and connectiveness. They remind us that life is a dance that bears sweetness for all to enjoy and this is by far my favorite reason to integrate magic mushrooms and honey.
Some Quick Facts to Prove the Benefits
- Depression is among the most researched indications for psilocybin therapy. As Healthline previously reported last year, psilocybin therapy was given “breakthrough therapy” by the FDA for the treatment of depression. A randomized, double-blind trial from Johns Hopkins in 2016 found that a single dose of psilocybin substantially improved quality of life and decreased depression and anxiety in people with life-threatening cancer diagnoses.
- In a small pilot study from Johns Hopkins University Trusted Source, researchers found that psilocybin therapy significantly improved abstaining from smoking over a 12-month follow-up period. Additionally, a small open-label studyTrusted Source on psilocybin and alcohol dependence found that following treatment, both drinking and heavy drinking declined. Researchers in Alabama are also currently conducting trials for psilocybin therapy on cocaine addiction.
- Honey can act as a natural and safe cough suppressant. Some studies show that it is even more effective than cough medicine. For centuries, even to this day, honey has been used for sore throats, digestive disorders, skin problems, hay fever, and as an antiseptic in poultices to treat cuts and burns amongst other things.
Blue Honey Recipe
The general idea here is to pour liquid honey over your mushrooms and store them in a container for 2-4 months or until the magic parts of the mushroom infuse into the honey and turn it blue. This said the honey does not always turn blue and you can start using this magical infusion on the spot.
It is important that your magic mushrooms are 100% dry so now excess water is introduced into the honey. This can be achieved by pre-drying your mushrooms on a tray in a hot window, by using a dehydrator or brown paper bag. You also want to make sure that you select a type of honey that is raw, liquid and unpasteurized – quality is best here and buying local comes with many added benefits. Lastly you will need a glass jar that is a completely sealable, like a Mason jar and scissors or an electric grinder to break down your magic mushrooms effectively.
The next step after collecting supplies is to process your magic mushrooms using the electric grinder or scissors, adding them to your glass jar, then topping it off with your honey. This can be done by placing your magic mushrooms into the glass jar and adding the honey bit by bit. Layering up the ingredients piece by piece will allow for a better mixture to form. Start with a layer of mushrooms, add a layer of honey and repeat until the jar is full.
Now the jar can be sealed and stored in a cool and dark environment to prevent any potential breakdown from occurring. You can choose to play the waiting game, remembering to check in and tilt or shake your jar to infuse your blue honey over the next few months or dig in right away. You can enjoy this psychedelic goodness alone or with your favorite tea, smoothie or energy ball recipe for a nutritious and delicious alternative to eating raw, died and sometimes hard to swallow mushrooms.
Magic Pasteli Recipe
For this recipe you will need 1/2 cup of blue honey, 1 cup of white sesame seeds (hulled) and a piece of parchment paper to spread out the mixture. Recipes with so few ingredients are pretty self explanatory, you just mix your blue honey with sesame seeds, then thinly spread the mixture out on to parchment and let it chill in your refrigerator for at least 2 to 3 hours. With a knife you can easily cut the magic pasteli into small pieces, and serve. To eat, peel off the parchment paper. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
